Dr. Gideonsen is a graduate of Northwestern University and Rush Medical College. He did his residency training at the West Suburban Family Practice program, where he also completed a fellowship in Maternal-Child Health and went on to serve as Assistant Director of that fellowship.

He worked in Chicago for several years, serving an inner city population and teaching residents and fellows high risk obstetrics including cesarean deliveries, as well as public health-oriented pediatric care.

Since 2002 he has served with the Eau Claire residency faculty; in 2006 Dr. Gideonsen was named Educator of the Year by the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Gideonsen actively engages the local Amish community and provides training and support to Amish traditional birth attendants around the upper midwest; his ongoing interests include maternity and pediatric care and public health concerns.
