About FEN, The Family Empowerment Network

FEN (The Family Empowerment Network) is a resource, referral, support, and research program serving families affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and the providers who serve them. FEN's mission is simple, to empower families through education and support.

Members of the Family Empowerment Network include birth and adoptive parents, foster care providers, grandparents, siblings, individuals affected by FAS/E, extended families members, and the providers who work with these families.

FEN Activities and Services:

"800" Advocacy Line: Toll-free line for parents and providers to request information, referrals and support, 1-800-462-5254 in the US.
Family Retreats: Structured and informal time for families to share their stories and receive support from each other.
Educational Opportunities for Families and Providers: Educational and training programs are conducted at various sites across the state of Wisconsin and nationwide.
Resource Materials and Technical Assistance: Free materials and ongoing assistance for families, providers, and agencies
FASTEN - The Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Telephone Network: A bimonthly conference call for parents to discuss daily issues.
FASTEN Listserv: A closed email list of parents who participate in the FASTEN conference call and want to continue the discussions between conference calls.

Our Goals:

To increase awareness about the issues surrounding FAS and provide general education to families, providers, and the general public.
To conduct research in the area of FAS, and FAS-related family issues.
Offer support and referrals to families.
Provide technical assistance for providers and agencies.
Network with families, family support groups, and providers on a state and national level.
