Family Medicine Student Electives

Medical students who have completed third year course work and have passed Med 3 exams may register for 4th year Family Medicine electives. Med 3 students who have successfully completed the Primary Care Clerkship are also eligible. Students from other medical and osteopathic schools in the U.S. and outside the U.S. may also apply for some Madison-based and statewide electives.

The Family Medicine elective options are varied. It should be noted that the Madison-based clinical electives have limited training spots and fill up quickly. Other UW Family Medicine Residency Program clinical sites (Eau Claire, Appleton, Wausau, Milwaukee and the rural training tracks at Baraboo, Menomonie and Augusta) usually have availability.

For information about availability of electives, send Email to: student.electives@fammed.wisc.edu
