Curriculum: Leadership and Communities: Health Issues in Communities

Goal: Identify health challenges facing communities in the state, the nation, and the world and learn ways that physicians may address these challenges.

Objectives:

  • Identify major health challenges facing communities
  • Review and reflect on physicians may contribute to addressing major community health challenges
  • Experience and reflect on a health challenge related to your project
  • Identify issues that affect you personally as you progress through LOCUS

Methods:

  • Attend and participate in health issues discussions in Physicians as Health Activists class
  • Participate in presentations at LOCUS retreats
  • Collaborate with others to address a community health issue as member of a community health project team
  • Self-reflection
