Curriculum: Leadership and Others

Goal: Learn to work effectively as a health team member and leader

Objectives:

  • Demonstrate team skills such as:
    • Active listening
    • Networking
    • Collaborating and sharing responsibility
    • Delegating
    • Giving acknowledgement
    • Providing constructive criticism
    • Assess group dynamics
    • Assess one's own responsibilities and performance in a group situation
  • Lead effective meetings:
    • Plan agendas
    • Conduct meetings
    • Determine follow-up actions
    • Distribute summaries and/or assignments
  • Participate in conflict resolution and mediation skills training:
    • Recognize and reflect on one's own responses to conflict
    • Develop basic skills and approaches to conflict resolution in health care settings

  • Conflict/mediation skills training
  • Training in active listening
  • Observe and conduct meetings
  • Training in giving and receiving feedback
  • Lecture/demonstration/activity in group dynamics
  • Self-reflection as a part of LOCUS activities
  • Completion of LOCUS community health team project
