Provide some sort of "Population Education" on health to empower temporary resident families to take care of their own health and take better care of themselves.

Describe the Problem

Temporary residents at the Salvation Army, families- often single mothers with young children, do not have basic health knowledge.

Project Goals & Tasks

  • Contact MEDIC and doctors regarding cooperation in setting up and designing a basic health knowledge course
  • Contact the education department regarding curricula and teaching strategies for empowerment
  • Contact doctors or other "experts" regarding specifics topics which need to be addressed
  • Distribute a survey to those in attendance to gauge both their previous health needs and their interests in this class
  • Assemble a "health packet" (Ibuprofen, Tylenol, toothbrush, etc.) for distribution at this class

Critical Factors for Success

  • Volunteers to teach the class on a regular basis
