Projects and Fellows
One of the key components of the LOCUS program is the community-based project. LOCUS students have the opportunity for hands-on leadership skills development as they complete a project that addresses a community need. Students can initiate an original project (developing a new program or service), or they can look at improving an aspect of an existing program--the possibilities are endless! Guidelines for the projects are flexible. Students can work together or individually. The projects can be passed on for future LOCUS fellows to continue working on, or they can be completed by the fellows' senior year. The end product will also vary depending on the project: a new program or service may be implemented, project findings might be shared with the community and/or other students, and/or the student may choose to write up the project for publication or presentation at a national meeting. This site contains project descriptions that our current LOCUS fellows are
engaged in. The projects are organized on the pages by interest area and
key words. The site has been developed to encourage collaboration and idea
sharing. You can contact the student who is working on the project by
clicking on their e-mail address at the bottom of the project description.
