Fellow Bio:

Project Description:

It is my hope to re-establish the Eagle Heights Prenatal Class for residents of Eagle Heights, a multi-national graduate student housing community. It is also my hope to link this class with current medical school groups, such as Dando A Luz in an effort to possibly link the mothers with possible mentors or for the sole purpose of creating an exchange of information and interaction between students and mothers of numerous nationalities/ethnicities.

Project Goals:

  • Re-establish Prenatal class at Eagle Heights.
  • Link Class/Public Health Nurse to medical student volunteer groups to create ongoing partnership.
  • Establishment of a new program aimed at exchange of ideas/cultural norms from multi-ethnic group regarding pregnancy and mothering. This a long term goal, not likely to be established prior to my leaving school.

Challenges and Solutions:
  • Cooperation with Eagle Heights in reinstating the program.
  • Creating renewed visibility and interest in the program.
  • Obtaining funding.
  • Finding staff to run the program.
