Diabetes - Bridget Pribbenow

What project ideas are you considering at this point?

I'm looking at doing a research/outreach project at the Madison street free outreach clinic dealing with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetics....looking at the increase in prevalence and cultural barriers/problems for Hispanic patients and then perhaps developing an intervention depending on the results of the study. (perhaps education, screening, finding resources for patients without insurance, etc.)

Are there specific ways LOCUS faculty and staff can be helpful in this process?

At the moment I'm just working on getting my ideas together...maybe once I get a better idea of what I want to do advice and feedback on the ideas from the faculty/staff would be helpful as well as resources that I could look into.

If you have selected a project but are not yet working on it, are there specific ways that LOCUS faculty and staff can help you get started?

Not yet....after I meet with my mentor and other connections in Milwaukee I think I will have a better idea of what my needs are/will be.

What are some of the challenges/barriers you have encountered, and how can we be helpful in working through these challenges with you?

I'm just getting started, so I haven't encountered many challenges/barriers yet...I'm sure they will come though.

Other comments and/or concerns?

Nothing else, I'm just in the very early stages and haven't really gotten too far into it. Sorry I don't have a lot for you right now.
