Awards - June 2009

  • Elizabeth Bade, MD received the Aurora UW Medical Group 2008 Research Award: Faculty Paper of the Year: "Navigating the Health Care System: A View from the Urban Medically Underserved". Published in the Wisconsin Medical Journal, 2008.
  • Leila Midelfort, MD received a McGovern-Tracy Award for her work in community service during residency.

Madison Residency Annual Program Awards

Award recipients are selected by current residents.

  • Adam Rindfleisch, MD: Baldwin E. Lloyd, MD Award - This award recognizes a significant educational contribution to the residency by a member of the residency faculty.
  • Jay Couser, MD: Clinical Teacher Award (St. Mary's/Dean) - This award recognizes a valuable educational contribution to the residency by a staff member of St. Mary's Hospital.
  • Mark Timmerman, MD: Clinical Teacher Award - This award recognizes a valuable educational contribution by someone who is not a member of our own residency faculty or an actual staff member of St. Mary's Hospital.
  • The St. Mary's Switchboard Operators & Joan O'Connor, RN: Distinguished Service Award - This award recognizes a non-physician who has provided significant service to the cause of residency education.
  • Kari Kindschi, MD: Resident Teacher Award - This award recognizes a graduating resident who has demonstrated excellence in teaching fellow residents and medical students.


Awards - May 2009

  • John Beasley, MD received the Wisconsin Medical Society Meritorious Service Award, March 2009.
  • Nancy Gutknecht, BS, ND was a recipient of the 2009 Public Health and Healthy Community Awards. She received the award for creating partnerships to develop a community garden at Midvale School.
  • Sarah Khan, MS, MPH, PhD has been awarded the Donella Meadows Leadership Fellows Program for 2009-2010.


Awards - April 2009

  • UW Verona (team leader Ann Evensen, MD) was awarded the Jim Davis Quality Improvement Award for the project "Improving Adherence to Best Practices in Cervical Cancer Screening".
  • Byron Crouse, MD received the "Family Physician Educator of the Year" award from the WAFP in early November.
  • Aleksandra Zgierska, MD, PhD received a NIAAA-funded AMERSA Conference Travel Award; 32nd Annual National AMERSA Conference, Washington D.C. November 2008.
