    Recent studies have shown that literacy skills are the single strongest predictor of health status--stronger than age, racial or ethnic group, income, employment status, or educational level. Overall clinicians may recognize the importance of low literacy in the health of their patients, but underestimate its prevalence, and few employ screening.     Eau Claire Family Medicine Residents have an exciting opportunity to practice their ACLS skills using a computerized Human Patient Simulator. This lifelike model is owned by Chippewa Valley Technical College, with whom Eau Claire Family Medicine has been sharing state-of-the-art facilities since 2005.

    Zorba Paster, MD shared his media expertise with the LOCUS students at a recent meeting. Dr. Paster is not only a Dean Care physician, but also a radio personality on "On Your Health" and has written many articles on healthy living.

    The hundreds of hours spent reviewing applications, emailing, interviewing, touring, dining, committee meetings and discussions during the 2005-06 recruitment season culminated in mid-March with "Match Week." Match Week is when the residency programs learn who their new residents are, and graduating medical students learn where they have been accepted for their residency training.
