Family Medicine Procedure Workshop
Once again, the Department of Family Medicine's annual medical student procedure workshop was a success! Eighty medical students and eight physician assistant students came and had the opportunity to attend two sessions. The sessions offered were:
- Casting
- Suturing
- EKG
- Gynecology
- OB basic delivery
- OB advanced delivery
- OB ultrasound
This year we were also joined by fourteen high school students. These high school students have medical students as mentors because of their interest in a future career in medicine. They shadowed the first session with their mentor, and during their second session, Bill Schwab, MD presented an overview of Family Medicine and answered their questions about being a physician.
A genuine thank you goes out to all who participated in making it a successful evening. We had staff and faculty from Madison, faculty from Milwaukee and Eau Claire and residents from Madison and Fox Valley. A special thank you is also extended to our pregnant patient volunteers for their time spent in the OB sessions. We received positive feedback from the students and look forward to planning the event again for next year.
