Craig Gjerde PhD was honored for completing a four-year term as a member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Program Committee.


Bill Schwab, MD served on an expert work group in Washington, D.C. convened by the federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau to consider the "Medical Home" approach to care within Family Medicine for children with special health care needs. The "personal medical home" is a core element of the new model of practice described in the "Future of Family Medicine" report.


Jonathan L. Temte, MD, PhD attended the AAFP Commission of Clinical Policy and Research in Kansas City in June. This commission is being replaced by the Commission on Science, to which he has been appointed. Dr. Temte attended, as a representative of the AAFP, the ACIP/NVAC meeting on Pandemic Influenza Vaccine Prioritization Strategies at CDC in Atlanta in June and a joint meeting of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices dealing with the Pandemic Influenza Vaccine Prioritization in Washington, D.C. in July. Additionally, Dr. Temte is working with a group at CDC conducting a national survery of Family Physicians and Pediatricians regarding a potential group A streptococcal vaccine.
