The Fox Valley residency program hosted three days of New Innovations (NI) training for the Department of Family Medicine residency program staff this summer. NI is an application that allows each DFM residency program to unify data into an easily accessible centralized location to complete tasks, historically performed using multiple methods, through one common interface. Individual programs can use NI to assist with tasks such as:

  • Scheduling
  • Procedure logging
  • Evaluations
  • Monitoring conference attendance
  • Duty hours and
  • General personnel data tracking.

Department of Family Medicine attendees at the training session included: Linda Damos (Baraboo); Ralph Suechting, MA and Debbie Han (Eau Claire); Theresa Rohm, Debbie Smith, Jamie Holbrook and Patty Emer (Fox Valley); Marguerite Elliot, DO, Sue McGuire, Nate Gullick, Michelle Grosch, MPA, and Jim Berg, MBA, CPA (Madison); and Adelle Spaay and Jeanette Hilliard (Wausau).

A special thank you goes to Fox Valley ITS Specialist, Mike Allen, for all his support in setting up the computer training room.

Sandra Cowman, NI Trainer and Support Specialist, traveled from New Innovations, Inc. in Ohio to lead the training sessions in the various NI applications, including:

  • Resident and faculty personnel databases
  • Procedure logging
  • Rotation schedules and curriculum
  • Duty hours logging
  • Conferences
  • Evaluations and other reports

The in-depth hands-on training was very helpful as all the programs are gearing up to use NI more in this new academic year.
