DFM Begins Planning 40th Anniversary Celebration
The DFM has begun preliminary plans for its 40th anniversary celebration, to be held July 16-18, 2010. The celebration intends to:
- Honor the DFM's accomplishments throughout its 40-year history;
- Showcase the DFM's people, programs, and activities;
- Encourage connections between current and former colleagues; and
- Establish contact with current and former "friends of family medicine" who have helped the DFM pursue its goals.
Further information about the 40th anniversary celebration will be communicated in printed mailings, email, and on the DFM Web site.

Mark Beamsley, MD, Appointed to UW SMPH Admissions Committee
Mark Beamsley, MD, a clinical associate professor at the UW Health-Odana Atrium clinic, has just begun a three-year term on the UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) admissions committee.
Dr. Beamsley is one of about 15 appointed committee members. The committee meets once a week during the academic year to review all applicant files for the SMPH's MD and MD/PhD programs.
Stephanie Berskon, MPA, Joins DFM as QI Manager
Stephanie Berkson, MPA, joined the Department of Family Medicine (DFM) as quality improvement (QI) manager on August 18. She has prior experience working at the Department of Veterans Affairs New York Harbor Healthcare System.
