Meet UW Health Augusta Family Medicine
The two faculty physicians at the Augusta clinic, Bill Cayley, MD and Mark Gideonsen, MD, maintain active clinical practices in Augusta and are fully involved with resident and medical student staffing at the main Eau Claire residency program. Previous faculty physicians in Augusta include Ken Adler, MD, Jad Roeske, MD, and Eamon Armstrong, MD.
The Augusta clinic also works closely with the local Augusta Area Home, a 61-bed nursing home, providing medical directorship, clinical care for the majority of the nursing home's residents, and rural nursing home experience for second and third year residents from the main Eau Claire residency program.
In 2006, the Augusta clinic was fully acquired by the University of Wisconsin, though significant financial support from Sacred Heart Hospital continues. The change in ownership is allowing further integration of the Augusta clinic with the clinical practice and educational efforts in Eau Claire.
The Augusta clinic represents a unique cooperative effort which results in service to the Augusta community and significant rural medical training for medical students and residents in the Eau Claire residency program.
