Mark Marnocha MS, PhD was the chair at the Convention Planning Committee for Wisconsin Psychological Association (WPA) Annual Convention in Middleton, WI.

Jim Shropshire, MD was named to the Board of Directors of Hillside Health Care International. HHCI is the stateside board for the Hillside Clinic in Eldridge, BELIZE, a mission clinic that provides free health care to the people in the southern most Toledo District. The Clinic hosts 6 medical and PA students monthly, and also accepts resident and faculty volunteers year round. Several University of Wisconsin students and Department of Family Medicine residents and faculty have rotated through this international experience in the last several years. Dr. Shropshire has just returned from his fourth tour of duty. Plans are currently underway for nine medical and PA students, and 2 Family Medicine residents to visit Hillside in the spring of 2007. Any faculty who might be interested in joining the University of Wisconsin team next March or April should contact Dr. Shropshire at james.shropshire@uwmf.wisc.edu.

William Scheckler, MD was recently appointed to the National Quality Forum's National Voluntary Consensus Standards for the reporting of Healthcare Associated Infections. He will be a member of the Technical Advisory Panel for Surgical Site Infections.

Geoffrey R. Swain, MD, MPH was recently elected to the position of Vice President of the Wisconsin Public Health Association. This election is effective as of the WPHA annual meeting. Dr. Swain will be serving on the WPHA Board (and now the executive committee) for another 2 years. WHPA has been increasingly active and effective over the past several years, and in fact WPHA received the American Public Health Association's "Affiliate of the Year" award at the APHA meeting last November. He is looking forward to continuing this trend, and is particularly excited about a new, statewide Public Health Institute that WPHA is taking the lead on developing.
