Quality Improvement Coordinating Workgroup Launched
The new Department of Family Medicine Quality Improvement (QI) Coordinating Workgroup met for the first time on June 1. This group has been charged to facilitate implementation of improvement strategies at DFM residency and University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation (UWMF) Family Medicine clinics. The workgroup will report to the DFM Clinical Care: Quality Committee which will set direction for workgroup efforts.
The first meeting had 23 participants from 14 clinics, including clinic managers, medical assistants, nurse practitioners, physician's assistants and clinic RNs. Support staff from UWMF quality management and UWMF operations attended as well. The intent of the group is to:
- Share most effective practices
- Problem solve barriers
- Brainstorm improvement strategies / ideas
- Propose policy changes
- Determine clinician/staff educational needs
- Serve as local champions
