The Wisconsin Research Network (WReN) has been conducting practice-based research for over 18 years. Originally a program of the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians, WReN ownership was recently transferred to the UW Department of Family Medicine. To emphasize the importance of the educational process during and after the research project, the name has been changed to the Wisconsin Research and Education Network (WREN).
