Honorary Awards

Nancy Accola, nurse clinician 2, from UW Health Eau Claire Family Medicine Clinic was one of five employees named as a recipient of the University of Wisconsin Classified Employee Recognition Awards. Nancy was among more than 60 employees nominated this year.

Lu Marchand, MD won third place in the Society of Teacher's of Family Medicine Annual Prose and Poetry Contest for her essay entitled "Body Worlds."

Jeffrey A. Stearns, MD, Associate Dean and Professor, Milwaukee Clinical Campus, received the following certificates:

• The Society of Family Medicine, Presidential Commendation, for exemplary contributions to the STFM Predoctoral Directors Development Institute.
• Certificate of Appreciation for recognition of Dr. Stearns's services as chair of the Undergraduate Medical Education Section and member of the National Steering Committee of the Group on Educational Affairs.

Mark Thompson, MD from Fox Valley and Bill Schwab, MD from Madison, along with faculty colleagues at the Medical College of Wisconsin, received the 2007 "Educational Project Award" from the MCW Department of Family and Community Medicine for their participation in the Wisconsin Statewide Family Medicine Chief Resident Leadership Course. Dr. Thompson and Dr. Schwab have been course faculty at this annual workshop for new chief residents from all of the state's Family Medicine residency programs for the past five years, including the most recent course held on June 1.
