Pre-Professional Advising
Physician Assistant Program - HRSA Title VII Grant
The primary goal of the HRSA Title VII Grant is to develop an integrated model, from pre-admissions to graduate placement assuring the PA Program can be of service to meet present and future health care needs of all individuals in the State of Wisconsin. The grant objectives are as follows:
- Increase the percentage of students from an underserved area, a disadvantaged background, and/or with minority status from 30% in 2007 to 40% by 2011.
- By 2010 all students will be prepared to care for rural/underserved populations, will have at least one significant educational experience in an underserved rural or urban area, and will be encouraged to pursue a primary care practice in an area of need. By 2011 50% of all students will be required to do a Capstone Research Project related to primary care in an underserved area or population.
- The Physician Assistant program will create a Rural/Underserved Primary Care Track curricula and program. Up to eight individuals with a strong interest in practicing in an underserved setting will be selected each year to participate in this program.
A Community Practice Advisory Council (CPAC) is a network of community partners from medically underserved geographical areas and/or populations who are willing to organize into a council – (concerned individuals from the local region or community).
