Project Study Title: FASD Prevention and Intervention Project
Intervention Component: The Healthy Choices Project
Summary of Study: To test the efficacy of a telephone-based versus a face-to-face brief intervention protocol in reducing the risk for alcohol-exposed pregnancies in 180 participating women ages 18 - 44 in a nine-county region of southern Wisconsin.
Objective: Women in participating clinics will be asked to complete an embedded alcohol and contraceptive questionnaire upon checking in for a routing appointment. Women who meet eligibility requirements will be invited to participate in a telephone-based health interview with a project researcher. Consenting women who meet eligibility based on this more in-depth screen will be randomized into either a telephone-based brief intervention group or an in-person brief intervention group.
DFM Clinic(s): Any Clinic choosing to participate
