Jonathan Temte, MD, PhD
Jonathan Temte, MD, PhD, a professor (CHS) at the University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) has been named to a Centers for Disease Control federal advisory committee by U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar II.
He will serve on the Board of Scientific Counselors in the Office of Infectious Diseases at the CDC. The board advises the CDC Director and the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and others concerning strategies, goals and priorities for the programs and research within the CDC’s three infectious disease national centers. The board monitors the overall direction and goals of the Office of Infectious Diseases.
The board also advises the Directors of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases and the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention.
Temte will serve on the 30-member board until September 2021. He is one of 17 non-government board members. He previously served on the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
