Week 3
Dear PCC Preceptor,
Hopefully all is going well with you and your PCC student. If not, be sure to let us know so we can see what we can do to help.
Key Task: Giving Feedback
Students consistently express a desire for specific comments regarding their strengths and weaknesses and specific suggestions for how they can improve. Your student may be reluctant to ask you for an evaluation so please take a few minutes to talk with the student about their performance.
What's going on: PBL Case 2: 50 year old man with diabetes
Clinical learning opportunities for PBL Case 2
- Diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, alcohol abuse, prevention for adult men, cultural beliefs that impact care, obesity
To supplement this session you could:
- Discuss how you work with 'non-compliant' patients
- Discuss alcohol screening and intervention in your office
Reminders: Midpoint Feedback
The midpoint of the PCC is approaching. The UWSMPH has a formal system for students receiving midpoint feedback from their preceptors. Your student will print out the Midrotation Feedback Form, and complete their self-assessment, and then review it with you to so that you can provide feedback.
Resources: Cases:
Also new for this academic year is a series of simulated cases regarding the primary learning topics for the rotation.
Thanks again for you help in making this a great experience for the students.
