Appleton and the surrounding communities provide a wide variety of social activities and entertainment. There are several camping areas within 20 minutes on Lake Winnebago. High Cliff State Park is a favorite among local folks. There is a variety of hiking and exercise trails located in Appleton and along highway CE for running, biking, blading, walking. They are within a 10-minute drive from the student housing. Lawrence University located in Appleton, as well as the communities of Oshkosh and Green Bay ( 30 minutes from Appleton) offer music and theater options. Appleton has a wide selection of movie theaters; some include "stadium" seating. Sports fans will appreciate the Green Bay Packers, The Appleton Timber Rattlers Baseball Team, and the Menasha professional soccer team (The Rebels) as options to choose from. The EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) is located in Oshkosh. Door County is a 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive up the peninsula for a beautiful one-day or weekend trip.
