Home to more than 75,000 people, the Eau Claire metropolitan area combines the advantages of city living with the beauty and recreational opportunities of its rural surroundings in northwestern Wisconsin.

The local economy is stable and strong, with a large contingent of industrial employers that includes Cray Research, Pope & Talbot and National Presto.

Surrounded by lakes and forests, Eau Claire offers enjoyment for everyone. From cross-country skiing, fishing and golf to college basketball and semi-pro baseball, there's no shortage of enjoyable activities. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and State Regional Arts Center provide many cultural events, including film, arts and speaker series and folk, classical and other musical events.

UW-Eau Claire is one of Wisconsin's most beautiful campuses. It enrolls 11,000 students and offers degrees in arts and sciences, business, education, nursing and graduate studies. In addition, Chippewa Valley Technical College is among the nation's most progressive technical schools, offering programs in health, business, marketing, agriculture, service, and trade and industry. UW-Stout, in nearby Menomonie, has 8,000 students in a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including marriage and family therapy.

Located 30 minutes from Eau Claire in west-central Wisconsin, Menomonie is home to about 14,000 residents plus 7500 college students at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The town surrounds beautiful Lake Menomin. Menomonie is the Dunn County seat. Its downtown centers around the historic Mabel Tainter Theater where the Menomonie Theater Guild performs several times each year. There are many excellent places to dine and shop in Menomonie and nearby communities.

The community is surrounded by picturesque farmland and wooded areas. A number of recreational areas are within minutes of Menomonie. The Red Cedar Trail offers biking along the Red Cedar River. Hoffman Hills offers excellent hiking and cross country skiing. UW-Stout offers fine university level recreational facilities. A private health club--Cedarwood Athletic Club--is adjacent to the hospital and
offers aerobics, weights, exercise equipment and racquetball.
