Schedules

The Madison Regional Site has a pool of more than forty-five community based teaching clinics. While some preceptors are affiliated with UW, most are community clinics outside of Madison with physicians who have chosen to volunteer their time for teaching.

Students are required to have reliable transportation on this rotation. The Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Pediatric pool of clinics are located in:

Beloit
Columbus

PCC clinic scheduling requires careful collaboration with other medical school programs, therefore students are discouraged from directly contacting a preceptor or clinic directly to request an assignment.

Requests can only be made through the PCC Madison Administrative Coordinator, Christie Legler (christie.legler@fammed.wisc.edu).

Two Clinics

All Madison PCC students are assigned to a Family Medicine clinic and either an Internal Medicine clinic or a Pediatric clinic.

During the eight-week rotation, students are expected to work at their two clinics for 7-8 half days every week: four half days at the Family Medicine clinic and three to four half days at the Internal Medicine or Pediatric clinic.

Here is a typical schedule for a student who has been assigned to a Family Medicine clinic and a Internal Medicine clinic. Note: In this example, the small group session is on Fridays. In other rotations, it may be a different day!
