Bio
Michele Malloy, MD (she/her/hers) joined DFMCH as faculty in 2018. She provides outpatient care at the Odana Road Clinic as well as inpatient intrapartum/postpartum and newborn care at UnityPoint Health – Meriter Hospital. Malloy earned her BS in biomedical engineering from UW-Madison and then served in AmeriCorps for a year at the Sixteenth Street Clinic in Milwaukee, WI prior to starting medical school. Working alongside certified nurse midwives at Sixteenth Street, Malloy helped support the Centering Pregnancy program and optimized patient education materials in the women’s health department. She found the continuity of care with parents and babies at Sixteenth Street deeply meaningful and decided to explore family medicine as a career path.
During her education at University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, she participated in the Training in Urban Medicine and Public Health (TRIUMPH) program and was able to return to Milwaukee and Sixteenth Street to help support their programs. She also co-led the MOMS (Medical students Offering Maternal Support) program which served to educate students about physiologic birth and breastfeeding as well as match them with expectant parents in a labor support role.
As faculty, Malloy has continued to work on strengthening community support for breastfeeding by teaching individual MD/PA/NP students, co-leading the IABLE Outpatient Breastfeeding Champion training series, and caring for complex breastfeeding/lactation patients at Odana Road Clinic. Outside of work, Malloy enjoys year-round outdoor activities with her family such as hiking, running, biking, sailing, and cross-country skiing.
