
Diana N. Carvajal, MD, MPH
Congratulations to Diana N. Carvajal, MD, MPH (Assistant Professor) on being awarded the 2025 Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Diversity Award! The award recognizes an STFM member who “best promotes innovative leadership, impact, and change that advances diversity, equity, and/or inclusion in family medicine education” in their work as a faculty member. Carvajal was recognized at STFM’s annual spring conference in Salt Lake City in May 2025.
Carvajal previously served as the director of diversity, equity, inclusion, and strategic planning for the national Reproductive Health Education in Family Medicine program. She also received the University of Maryland School of Medicine Dean’s Faculty Award for Diversity and Inclusion in 2022, and in 2021 was named Family Medicine Educator of the Year by the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians.
STFM’s mission is to advance family medicine to improve health through a community of teachers and scholars. It is a national community of academic leaders promoting the education of family physicians.
