Bio
Shweta Bhatnagar, DO, MPH (she/her/hers) joined DFMCH in 2025 as a resident. Bhatnagar is passional about providing inclusive, culturally conscientious care that utilizes effective listening and communication skills to build strong relationships with her patients. She wants to empower patients to make decisions that are best for their lives and to continue her public health work through policy advocacy and community health initiatives.
During medical school, Bhatnagar helped create and implement a lecture series for medical students designed to improve cultural competency by exploring topics related to social justice, health equity, and public health in medicine. She also volunteered at a domestic violence crisis line center and at an LGBTQIA+ youth outreach center. These experiences affirmed her passion for providing conscientious care to vulnerable populations.
While earning her MPH, she worked with the University of North Carolina Peripartum Mood Disorders Program to develop medical education curricula on care practices for perinatal patients with substance use disorders. Bhatnagar also helped create a statewide mental health provider database for perinatal and postpartum patients to improve care access.
Outside of medicine, Bhatnagar enjoys reading, dancing, hiking, playing board and card games, and watching Disney movies.
