Bio
Eric Reetz, MD (he/him/his) joined DFMCH in 2025 as a resident. Reetz was attracted to family medicine for the relationships family medicine doctors create with their patients and their strong positioning as advocates in their community.
As an undergraduate student, working at a free clinic opened Reetz’s eyes to inequities in the health care system as well as the generosity of the people who take time to fill the gaps. He also volunteered at his medical school’s free clinic, learning the importance of community resources and partners in helping patients meet their health needs.
Reetz had a unique opportunity to work alongside a family physician and his firearm injury prevention efforts by talking to fellow students, teaching and offering cable locks to patients at their clinics, and accompanying medical professionals to a local gun shop to learn more about firearms from an expert in the community. Reetz plans to continue his work in firearm injury prevention throughout his residency.
Outside of medicine, Reetz enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking, gardening, playing board games and sports, and watching Wisconsin sports.
