Bio
Olivia Kavanaugh-Garcia, DO (she/her/hers) joined DFMCH in 2025 as a resident. As a medical student, Kavanaugh-Garcia served as a student member of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians board of directors and as a delegate at the National Conference Student Congress where she learned about advocating for patients in the family medicine field.
While working at the student-run Near West Free Clinic, Kavanaugh-Garcia learned how to navigate barriers to health care access and more about social determinants of health. Through her work with an overdose lifeline, Kavanaugh-Garcia better understood substance use disorders and furthered her interest in addiction medicine training. As a tutor, Kavanaugh-Garcia honed her teaching and communication skills and hopes to include teaching as part of her medical career.
Outside of medicine, Kavanaugh-Garcia enjoys hiking, running, jigsaw puzzles, Formula 1 racing, building Lego sets, reading fantasy novels, and spending time with loved ones.
