Bio
Shanaya Hebgen, MD (she/her/hers) joined DFMCH in 2025 as a resident. Hebgen grew up in a rural community and chose to complete medical school in the Wisconsin Academy for Rural Medicine (WARM) at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. As a WARM student, Hebgen had ample opportunities to foster strong connections with community members that enhanced her desire to not only serve her community as a physician but to hold other positions in the community as well.
Hebgen earned a Path of Distinction in Medical Education that allowed her to foster her love of education in a medical setting. Through this pathway, she worked with a palliative care physician to create a palliative care simulation course and created a workshop for program directors to improve their residency interview experiences.
Outside of medicine, Hebgen enjoys playing sand volleyball, horseback riding, paddle boarding with her dog, hiking, baking, snowboarding, and trying new things.
