Rakel Integrative Health Support Fund (#112580097)
This Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) fund was established to support the UW Integrative Medicine program created by Dr. David Rakel, founder, and director of the program from 2001-2016.
This fund is established to provide discretionary funds to be used for current needs and to enhance, expand, and advance the overall mission of the DFMCH Osher Center for Integrative Health. Should the Osher Center cease to exist or move departments or colleges, this fund will be available as discretionary support for DFMCH.
The Osher Center seeks to advance Salutogenic Science through collaboration across many areas including therapies, processes, and innovations that facilitate health, healing, and resiliency within clinical, academic, and community settings. Salutogenesis is “the creation of health.”
The Osher Center for Integrative Health Director, Chair of the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and the Dean of the School of Medicine and Public Health have the authority to spend money from this fund for the funds stated purpose.
