Jon Temte, MD, PhD

Jonathan Temte, MD, PhD received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians (WAFP). Temte’s impact on the field of family medicine through advancing public health, training family physicians, and exploring disease prevention and control will be recognized at the WAFP annual business meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 13, 2026.

Highlights of Temte’s work include an innovative study monitoring cold and flu symptoms of school-aged children and providing guidance based on rapidly evolving information to a global audience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Temte currently chairs the Wisconsin Council on Immunization Practices and previously directed the Wisconsin Research and Education Network.

The Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians was established in 1948. It is the largest physician specialty group in Wisconsin with a mission to “promotes excellence and equity in health for all people in Wisconsin through the advancement of the art and science of family medicine.”
