  1. Ethan W Carlson MD

    Ethan Carlson, M.D. (Hospital and Clinic Preceptor) is a graduate of Grinnell College and the University of Iowa School of Medicine and completed his family practice residency at the Mt. Carmel Family Practice Program in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Carlson is an active participant in the UW Madison Medical School’s Generalist Partners Program and frequently hosts medical students who shadow his practice. Dr. Carlson has an active obstetric, clinic, and hospital practice. His medical Interests and procedures include general family medicine, obstetrics, sigmoidoscopy, colposcopy, office surgeries, and resident/medical student education.

  3. James Damos MD - Program Director

    James R. Damos, MD after graduation from residency, practiced in a rural Wisconsin community for 10 years where he had an active obstetrics practice and taught Advanced Cardiac Life support to three different hospital staffs in his county.

    His rising interest in teaching culminated in his joining the University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine-Madison in 1987. There, along with his colleague John Beasley, M.D., he became the concept originator, co-developer and first editor of the Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) provider and instructor courses. Similar to the way the airline industry teaches pilots how to handle emergencies in simulators, the ALSO course teaches obstetrical providers how to manage common emergencies that can take place in the delivery room. Due to the course's popularity, ALSO is now owned and administered by the American Academy of Family Physicians. It is becoming a standard part of the curriculum of most family medicine residencies.   4. Timothy Deering MD

    Tim Deering, MD, (Hospital and Clinic Preceptor, Human Behavior and Mental Health Coordinator) is a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and a 2001 graduate of the UW-Baraboo Family Medicine residency. He returned to Medical Associates Clinic in Baraboo after completing a public health commitment practicing at a migrant health clinic in King City, California for a Health Professions Scholarship obligation. His professional interests are Nutrition, Adolescent Medicine, Residency Education, and Care for the Underserved. Dr. Deering enjoys spending time with his family, bicycling, rowing, prayer, reading and Bible study.

  5. Bridget S Delong MD

    Bridget DeLong, MD (Hospital and Clinic Preceptor) is a graduate of University of Wisconsin, Madison and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She completed her residency at the University of Wisconsin Baraboo Rural Training Track. Dr. DeLong has an active interest in preventative medicine and women’s health. She is currently organizing and implementing the national “Reach Out and Read” program at her clinic.

  6. Cheryl L Gehin MD

    Cheryl Gehin (Hospital and Clinic Preceptor) graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School and completed her family practice residency at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2002. Dr. Gehin’s professional interests include Women's health, OB, colposcopy and caring for children. In her spare time Dr Gehin enjoys spending time with her husband and children in out door pursuits. She is an avid runner.

  7. Cheryl R Goeckermann MD

    Cheryl Goeckermann, MD (Hospital and Clinic Preceptor) is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and completed her family practice residency at the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1998. Dr. Goeckermann volunteered at homeless shelters and free medical clinics during medical school and residency. Dr. Goeckermann’s professional interests are preventive medicine, nutrition, women’s health, and obstetrics. She also enjoys gardening, camping, cooking and time with her family.

  10. Stuart G Hannah MD - Program Director

    Stuart G. Hannah, MD joined the Baraboo residency program in 2010. Himself a 2003 graduate of the Baraboo rural training track, Dr. Hannah experienced first- hand how a rural program works and the benefits of training in a rural environment. He received his BS Summa cum Laude from the College of William and Mary, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, was presented an Ann Callahan Chappell Award, and received the Lewis-Gale Clinic/Mary Ella Zelenik MD scholarship.

    He attended medical school at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and was a Canby Robinson Scholar. Dr. Hannah was the program originator, designer, and director of the Tennessee Governor’s School for Health Sciences in 1999. In 2000 he was given the Geoffrey David Chazen Award for the student, resident, or faculty member who originates and implements a significant change in education strategy or approach in the University Medical Center. During his Faculty Development Fellowship, Dr. Hannah participated in the MEDAL program (Medical Education Development and Leadership), including a year each of Program Development and Teaching Skills for medical education.   11. Jamie Kling DO

    Jamie Kling, DO, (Care of Women Curriculum, Hospital and Clinic Preceptor) is a 2006 graduate of the UW-Baraboo Family Medicine residency and has chosen to continue as a practicing physician at the Medical Associates Clinic. Dr. Kling graduated from Des Moines University-Osteopathic Medical Center where he tutored physician assistants and medical students. His professional interests are Women's health, coloposcopy, minor office procedures and osteopathic manipulation. Dr. Kling’s hobbies are golf, camping, hiking, reading and fishing.

  12. Randy Krszjzaniek MD

    Randy Krszjzaniek, MD (Hospital and Clinic Preceptor) grew up on a farm in central Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1989 and completed his residency at the Mid-Michigan Regional Center at Midland, MI. Dr. Krszjzaniek’s practice interests include obstetrics, colposcopy, geriatrics, and hospice care. Dr. Krszjzaniek serves as course director and instructor for the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) course offered annually by St. Clare Hospital. In his spare time he enjoys traveling with his family and bicycling.

    James Mathers, M.D. (Hospital and Clinic Preceptor) is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School and completed his family practice residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Dr. Mathers is one of the organizers of the Medical Mission to Haiti Project organized by citizens in Sauk County. His professional interests are cardiology, cardiac stress testing, colposcopy, depression, joint injection, obstetrics and gynecology, teaching family practice residents. In his spare time, Dr. Mathers likes skiing, boating, running, tennis, and photography, and traveling.

  15. Mark Meier MD

    Mark Meier, M.D. (Surgical Curriculum) graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and completed his General Surgery residency at UNDSM in 1994. He is board certified in General Surgery. Dr. Meier coordinates and teaches General Surgery to Baraboo and Madison family practice residents. Dr. Meier teaches upper and lower GI endoscopy to Baraboo residents who are interested in learning these skills. Endoscopy training is not for everyone and the program assists residents in identifying which residents may have the technical/educational skills to learn endoscopy. Baraboo residents who pursue endoscopy take the AAFP endoscopy course and most residents log over 100 endoscopies with Dr. Meier before graduation. Dr. Meier also performs local cesarean sections for the family physicians when needed and encourages residents and medical students to be good first assistants.

  16. Sharilyn B Munneke MD

    Sharilyn Munneke, MD (Hospital and Clinic Preceptor) attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD on a vocal music scholarship. She is a graduate of the Mayo Medical School in Rochester, MN and completed her residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1995. Dr. Munneke has special interests in children’s and women’s health and is an ALSO ® instructor. She completed a Primary Care Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2007. She job-shares with Dr. Goeckermann to maintain a balance between her professional duties and her time with her husband and two young children. Her hobbies include enjoying the outdoors with her family, hiking and canoeing.

  17. Kara L Traxler - Residency Education Coordinator

    Kara Traxler, BS is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. She works in the clinic assisting residents with their educational program, organizes resident evaluations, facilitates meetings, coordinates the recruitment program locally, and assists with program management. When she’s not working, Kara keeps very busy with her husband and four daughters. They can most often be found hiking, biking, fishing, camping and beading.

  18. Daniel D Trotter MD

    Dan Trotter, MD (Hospital and Clinic Preceptor) graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School and attended residency at the St. Francis-Mayo Family Practice residency in LaCrosse, Wisconsin graduating in 1993. Dr. Trotter’s is interested in the use of computers in medicine and serves on a Dean/ St. Mary’s committee upgrading the use of computerized medical records in local healthcare facilities. He has played a major role in bringing the Epic system of computerized medical records to Baraboo Medical Associates and the residency. Dr. Trotter is an avid runner and enjoys bicycling.
