Elizabeth A. Fleming, MD

Congratulations to Elizabeth A. Fleming, MD (Assistant Professor, CHS) on being chosen to represent faculty for two University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health signature events this year. Fleming was selected as a faculty speaker at Match Day 2025, where she shared with students the story of her match day (she burst into tears despite getting her first choice), reassurance that becoming a physician can bring complicated emotions, a reminder that we are never alone in medicine, and a hope that they will look for joy in patient care.

Fleming was also nominated by the Class of 2025 to be one of two faculty hooders at the Doctor of Medicine Graduate Recognition Ceremony on May 9, 2025. She assisted with placing the MD hood on each graduate as they crossed the stage.

Fleming has a strong connection with medical students as a longitudinal teacher/coach and developer of a narrative medicine curriculum that centers around the imposter phenomenon, medical error, and developing uncertainty tolerance.
