Congratulations to the University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) Rural FMOB Fellowship on receiving a Wisconsin Department of Health Services Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program Development Grant totaling $520,404. The three-year planning grant begins July 2023.

The Rural FMOB fellowship will provide much-needed surgical training and high-risk obstetrical experience for family physicians who plan to care for a rural population. The fellowship and grant will be coordinated by DFMCH in collaboration with the UW Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and multiple rural hospitals. The fellowship will be led by Drs. Ryan Luellwitz (UW Ob-Gyn), Lee Dresang (Professor, CHS), and Jillian Landeck (Assistant Professor, CHS).

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services GME Program Development Grants are intended to support current accredited GME programs in priority specialties in expanding their programs with the goal of improving the health of the people in Wisconsin by increasing the number of physicians practicing in rural areas of Wisconsin.
