The University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) ranks seventh in the nation for the 2024 Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR) rankings of NIH funding for family medicine departments. DFMCH’s NIH awards totaled $3,421,326 for the federal fiscal year ending September 30, 2024. DFMCH was ranked 29th in the 2023 rankings.

Four DFMCH faculty appeared in the family medicine principal investigator rankings – Sarina Schrager, MD, MSAndrew Quanbeck, PhDWendy Slutske, PhD, and Randy Brown, MD, PhD, DFASAM. The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health comes in 23rd among medical schools with awards totaling over $294 million.

Since 2006, BRIMR has published rankings based on funding received from the National Institutes of Health. Standings reflect funds awarded during the federal fiscal year as released on the NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool (RePORT).
