Vanessa Camarillo, DO

Vanessa Camarillo is originally from Milwaukee but is now happily settled in Monroe, WI. She completed her undergraduate studies at UW-Madison and pursued her passion for medicine at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM). Family medicine stole her heart because of its incredible variety—she enjoys being able to see a wide range of patients and conditions. What really fuels her passion is the continuity of care; she finds building relationships with patients and their families truly rewarding. Outside of medicine, she loves cooking up new recipes and spending quality time with her husband, their two dogs, and her ever-growing collection of houseplants.

Perry Poulos, DO

Perry Poulos earned his medical degree from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM) of Midwestern University. Perry grew up in the Northwest Chicago suburbs and moved to Ripon, Wisconsin for his undergraduate years. In college, he began volunteering at the local medical center, which is where he first connected so deeply with rural medicine. After college, he spent time as a clinical research assistant at the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Cancer Center before completing a two-year masters program in biomedical science at Midwestern University. Perry chose family medicine due to its breadth of practice and scope, as well as its interesting and diverse patients/pathology. In his family medicine rotations, he also really enjoyed continuity care in clinic where he was able to build meaningful relationships with his patients over time. He still holds an interest in rural medicine, so he cannot wait to grow in this journey at Monroe. Outside of the medical field, Perry loves playing soccer and guitar, exercising and fitness, reading, going on walks with his family’s dog, and spending time with his family and girlfriend.

Nicholas (Nick) Schieldt, DO

Nick Schieldt earned his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Having grown up in Janesville, WI where he met his wife, Nick is excited to return to South Central Wisconsin to complete his medical training. Prior to beginning medical school, Nick worked as a medical scribe in an emergency department in Sheboygan, WI; it was there that he learned of the importance of primary care in illness prevention, sparking his interest in rural family medicine. His ultimate career goal is to be able to care for any patient he sees, spanning from outpatient office visits to acute visits in the emergency department. Outside of work, Nick enjoys spending time with his wife and their French Bulldog/Boston Terrier, Edgar. In his downtime, he can be found playing niche board games with friends, reading at a local coffee shop, or online playing video games.

Sara Kaczmarek, DO

Sara Kaczmarek earned her medical degree from the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine. When she was a patient, she experienced the effectiveness of osteopathic medicine, and that spark grew into passionate ambition.  Seeing the level of all-inclusive care her doctor offered and the techniques she practiced made Sara realize she wanted to devote her life to providing the same kindness, empathy, attention and comprehensive care to patients. Sara discovered her desire to be a beacon of hope for patients afraid of the doctor, determination to advocate on patient’s behalf, love for OMT and importance of providing continuity of care. Sara is a Wisconsin native and cheers for all Wisconsin sports teams. She loves squirrels and enjoys outdoor activities, traveling and puzzles.

John Manuel, DO

John Manuel earned his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University. John grew up in the Philippines and his neighborhood was filled with socioeconomic diversity. Many friends and families could not afford to see a doctor and forego much needed medicines and vaccines. This inspired John to become a primary care physician that can help families that need medical care. He also enjoyed seeing how osteopathic manipulation can help patients with their pain. John wants to be able to care for patients and families throughout their entire lives. John enjoys spending time with his family, partner, dogs, playing video games, and traveling.

Shane Nebeck, DO

Shane grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He moved to the twin cities and got his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, Shane worked in a research lab studying deep brain stimulation for the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease and other movement disorders. Shane went to medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa. He hopes to practice rural family medicine after completing his residency. Shane enjoys helping patients of all ages.

Shane enjoys outdoor activities like fishing, camping, gardening and mushroom hunting. He is a homebrewer and grows his own wine grapes. Shane also enjoys playing video games with friends.

Richard Nye, DO

Dick Nye earned his medical degree from Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine Lycnhburg, VA. Dick and his wife both grew up within an hour of Monroe and are excited to raise their three children back home. Before entering civilian medicine, Dick earned his BS at Pepperdine University before enlisting in the Army, where he became a Special Forces medic, serving multiple combat and non-combat deployments in the Middle East. His experience in the field gave him experience working with soldiers and civilians alike, and led to a love of primary care, where he found purpose caring for families. In his words, “primary care is ‘primary’ for a reason: it is the first, and most crucial, point of access for medical care.” Dick enjoys seeing patients with a spectrum of ages and problems, treating whole families, and practicing holistic medicine. Dick is also interested in rural and underserved medicine. Dick’s wife grew up on a dairy farm in Cambridge, WI, which led to a love of hobby farming. Outside of that, three children under ten years old provides the opportunity to also have Pokémon, Bluey, and dinosaurs as hobbies. The Nye family is thrilled to be a part of Monroe!

Carmen Urso, MD

Carmen Urso earned her medical degree at Universidad de Carabobo, Valencia-Venezuela, and then completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Maternidad Concepcion Palacios, Caracas-Venezuela. Carmen practiced medicine in Venezuela for five years experiencing work with many patients of different ages, backgrounds, and socioeconomic status. Carmen moved to the USA to find better opportunities and grow professionally. She discovered her passion for family medicine while working as a medical assistant at a clinic in Chicago, IL. Building long-term relationships with her patients and maintaining the trusted doctor-patient bond by offering comprehensive care to patients who depend on her is the key to her success. When she is not trying to save the world, she loves spending time with her husband and son, watching movies (especially Disney movies), trying new foods from around the world, and going to the beach.

John Dube, DO

John Dube earned his medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. John’s lifelong goal in becoming a physician has always been to help people. During his family medicine rotations, he was able to see the powerful impact a physician can have on their communities and more importantly their patients individually. These formulative interactions and the relationships formed through them molded John’s medical philosophy of allowing patients to realize their own potential and live their lives to the fullest. The diverse nature of primary care, with its unexpected problem solving and need to find solutions to unique problems specific to individual patient needs is something that John enjoys about clinic work. Through his various leadership experiences in undergraduate and medical school on numerous boards and committees, John has realized the importance of teamwork and how it plays an integral part to good patient-centered care. The dedication and perseverance to this care for the betterment of his patients is what drives John to constantly improve himself each day. When not working or in the hospital, John likes to spend time with his wife, nieces and nephews, outdoor activities, and board games on his off time.

Annika Evenhouse, DO

Annika Evenhouse earned her medical degree from Midwestern College. Annika worked as a medical scribe in an emergency department prior to medical school and saw what it was like to treat acutely ill patients, but not have the chance to follow up with them beyond the ED. She enjoyed the variety of patients and pathology encountered but missed that connection with the patients and their families over time. Annika wants to devote to patient and family interactions. Family medicine gave her the flexibility to practice a wide variety of medicine. Not only does she have the right skill set, but also feels drawn to family medicine to help fill the ever-increasing need for doctors in rural areas. Annika likes to spend time with her husband, gardening, home improvement, and outdoor activities in her free time.

Christian Springer, DO

Christian Springer earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Christian’s desire was to work with people from different backgrounds and understand the intricacies of the mind was actualized in international studies and psychology. The exposure Christian received from my uncle resonated with him the most, and he saw how much of a positive impact he had on his patients and our community. Christian realized he wanted to have as much of a positive impact on his future patients and community and felt he belongs in rural family medicine. Christian likes to read, camp, and travel in his down time.
