Monroe Family Medicine residents complete the majority of their rotations each year at SSM Health Monroe Clinic and Hospital, training alongside their fellow residents in a supportive and collaborative environment. A select number of offsite rotations enhance the breadth of clinical training: during the first year, residents complete an obstetrics rotation at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison; in the second year, they rotate through the Medical Intensive Care Unit at St. Mary’s and complete inpatient pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Minnesota; and in the third year, they gain experience in orthopedics and sports medicine at Dean Clinic and complete a newborn and NICU rotation at St. Mary’s. Third-year residents may also choose one additional offsite elective. Weekly didactics are held Thursday afternoons, offering dedicated time for interactive learning, evidence-based discussions, and faculty-led teaching.
