The University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health Cottage Grove Clinic, located in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, seeks a Clinical Physician. This position will include full spectrum family medicine, with maternity care (OB) preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

The UW Health Cottage Grove Clinic is interested in a Family Medicine physician to join the clinic and provide the full spectrum of family medicine skills with OB. This position will also be involved in clinical teaching of medical students and other learners.

Duties will include provision of clinical care of patients, obstetrics/maternity care preferred as part of practice, clinical teaching/supervision of medical students and other learners, participation in clinical faculty call schedule (phone call only), OB call and newborn rounding (shared OB call group), nursing home visits, departmental meetings, and performing administrative duties as necessary in the position.

The preferred candidate will either have experience teaching and working with a diverse population, or will welcome a commitment to teaching and working with a diverse population.

The University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (UW DFMCH) is a large, tier-one clinical department in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH). Ranked fifth in the nation among academic family medicine departments, DFMCH and its associated UW Health clinic operation has over 750 employees, including 171 faculty and an additional 261 clinical adjunct faculty located throughout the state. The DFMCH is committed to patient care while also offering outstanding educational and research programs. Over 150 residents and more than 400 medical students train in the department each year. In FY2021, our physicians and residents practicing at 17 clinics throughout the state managed over 338,000 patient visits, an integral part of the department’s success. Research funding from the NIH and other state, federal and private sources exceeded $7.8 million in FY2021 and supported several areas of interest including major research projects in pain management, addiction and substance misuse prevention and treatment, and infectious disease surveillance.

Anticipated start date: 2023, but will remain flexible start date for final candidate.

Requirements:

  • MD/DO
  • Wisconsin medical licensure required prior to start date.
  • Certification by or eligible for certification by American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP)
  • Successful completion of a fully accredited Family Medicine Residency Program.
