The volunteers mentored health professions students by providing clinical supervision for learners and role modeling their commitment to and service of those who are most under-resourced. MEDiC operates four student-run free clinics that provide care for underserved patients including non-English speaking patients, unhoused patients, and patients experiencing mental illness. The program integrates medical, pharmacy, nursing, physical therapy, and physician assistant students, providing a unique opportunity for students to work interprofessionally with peers. MEDiC was established in 1991 and was honored with a President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2011.
