Congratulations to Bruce Barrett, MD, PhD (Professor) on being named site principal investigator for a $23 million Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) grant to study sinusitis. Led by Daniel Merenstein, MD, the “Nasal Steroids, Irrigation, Oral Antibiotics, and Subgroup Targeting for Effective Management of Sinusitis” study aims to compare the efficacy of nasal sprays and oral antibiotics, identify the patient subgroups that benefit the most from oral antibiotics versus nasal sprays, and identify which patient subgroups improve with supportive care and do not require nasal sprays or oral antibiotics.
Dr. Barrett will serve as a site principal investigator for this multisite study comprising six regions across the United States. The Wisconsin Research and Education Network (WREN) will assist with clinic recruitment, data collection, and other research-related tasks to fulfill the goals of the study.
