This summer we bid a fond farewell to Connie Thompson. She retired after thirty-eight years of service for the State of Wisconsin. The Department of Family Medicine benefited from her expertise for approximately twenty-seven of those years. During that time, she:

  • Worked for the Madison Residency Program
  • Supervised support staff
  • Finished her career in Human Resources as our Faculty Recruiter

Connie utilized the skills and knowledge she developed from the time spent in the Madison Residency Program to successfully attract high quality people. We in Human Resources miss Connie, but are pleased to hear she is very much enjoying her retirement.

Although we were sad to see Connie leave, we are now happy to announce that we have hired Dustin Farberg as our new Faculty Recruiter. He will start his new role in the Department of Family Medicine on Monday, September 17. Dustin recently completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resources Management. He is currently working in the School of Medicine and Public Health's Academic Affairs office and has had six years of experience with the Department of Corrections. We believe his enthusiasm and skills will be a great addition to the Department's Human Resource Services.

The University's Dual Choice and open enrollment period is just around the corner. Watch for email notices. Updates will be posted on UW Office of Human Resources Payroll and Benefits Services' website http://www.bussvc.wisc.edu/ecbs/ecbs.html listed under What's New.

You can also access UW Benefits Services from our new DFM Human Resource Services webpage at https://inside.fammed.wisc.edu/hr/index.html (first link listed under Benefits). The DFM Human Resource Services page is a work in progress, however many useful links are already in place. We are located on the DFM Internal page at https://inside.fammed.wisc.edu/ . As we continue to work on improvements to our customer service, we hope that the changes we are making will assist all employees of the Department of Family Medicine.
