Integrative Health and Wellness at UW Health

Integrative health is healing-oriented medicine that honors the whole person, including a person’s values, lifestyle and relationships. The goal is to use the most appropriate therapies and approaches to activate the body’s natural abilities to heal. It is informed by the most current medical research and draws from both conventional and complementary therapies.

  • UW Health’s integrative health and wellness team is focused on the whole individual – body, mind and spirit. You have access to a number of healthcare professionals including doctors, nurses, health psychologists, acupuncturists and massage therapists who work in concert to bring out the best possible you.

The following are some highlights of UW Health’s Integrative Health and Wellness services:

  • Integrative Health Consult Clinic

Patients can schedule Integrative Health consultative visits with clinicians trained in Integrative Medicine. One to three visits are recommended, depending on a person’s symptoms, conditions and health needs. A team approach is encouraged with communication and follow up with your referring provider.

A clinician referral is required to schedule an appointment.

  • Group Medical Visits

A group medical visit, also known as a shared medical appointment, brings a group of patients together — usually between eight and 12 people — who have a common condition or are seeking to achieve common goals.

Because group medical visits typically run 90 or 120 minutes, these sessions allow participants to absorb more information and receive more hands-on training than is the case during a typical individual 15-minute clinic visit.

Group medical visits are usually billable to insurance, so the cost is often no more than the out-of-pocket, co-pay for an individual appointment.
